White Tailed Deer
White tailed deer in the depths of FPP
The white tailed deer is the most common deer species in the pine barrens. They will often hide out in more quiet areas but will still roam around busier areas. Deer hunting programs for the New Jersey pine barrens have been established to help control the population of the species.
Often times, white tailed deer will stick together in groups. It is especially common to see mature deer with fawns during fall, more specifically from mid October through December.
