Forked River Mountain Preserve

Near Greenwood Forest WMA, Forked River Mountain Preserve continues the pineland mountain range as it lingers east, towards the shore. The mountains become shorter as they near the beach and sea level.

Trees After Fire

After a fire, the trees are made into strange shapes, with pine cones also being left behind. Some branches are completely burned off, or much of their foliage is lost. Foliage can sometimes grow back after a fire and make a unique comeback.
