Spear Thistle

The spear thistle is an invasive species with thorny characteristics. It has prickly stems and the flower itself is thorny with a hair like set of pink spores on top. The plant grows in a variety of soils, but stands out with its colorful and unique appearance. Spear thistles can continue growing during winter while neighboring species are in dormancy.
